The bead I use, and the four I don’t
Acrylic, plain glass, electroplated, AB coated and lead crystal are all sold as “crystal suncatcher beads”, and they do not behave alike. I use AB coated — it is the only one of the five whose colour changes as the sun moves.

Aurora borealis coating is a micro-thin layer of metal vapour deposited in a vacuum chamber. It is transflective — part mirror, part window — so light still passes through and still splits, but picks up interference colour on the way, the same physics as oil on water. As the sun moves, the colours move.

it’s so beautiful i could cry. arrived well-packaged and looks just like the pictures. each “vine” is made of wire which allows them to be bent into whatever position you want. will definitely be getting these as gifts for friends in the future

This is a GORGEOUS sun catcher!! First of all, packing was adorable 😍 The catcher is extremely high quality and shines like in the ad video. I’m so glad I didn’t go with a much cheaper option I found. It’s pretty heavy so I was nervous about using it on my rear view mirror but it’s just the right length that it doesn’t hit the window when it sways. I’ve had it less than a full day and am getting so many smiles on the road, even some men in a construction work truck loved it. Ha! So fun!
